Erasmus+ the new EU programme for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport for 2014-2020

The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as modernising Education, Training, and Youth work. The seven year programme will have a budget of €14.7 billion; a 40% increase compared to current spending levels, reflecting the EU's commitment to investing in these areas.

Erasmus+ will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad.

Erasmus+ will support transnational partnerships among Education, Training, and Youth institutions and organisations to foster cooperation and bridge the worlds of Education and work in order to tackle the skills gaps we are facing in Europe.

It will also support national efforts to modernise Education, Training, and Youth systems. In the field of Sport, there will be support for grassroots projects and cross-border challenges such as combating match-fixing, doping, violence and racism.

Erasmus+ brings together seven existing EU programmes in the fields of Education, Training, and Youth; it will for the first time provide support for Sport. As an integrated programme, Erasmus+ offers more opportunities for cooperation across the Education , Training , Youth , and Sport sectors and is easier to access than its predecessors, with simplified funding rules.

Institution's international strategy.

The Institut Cendrassos Mobility Project has just started in the academic year 2014-2015. We are a small HE institution that only offers two short cycles. Nevertheless, the mobility project is one of most important challenges of our institution.

Our geographical position gives us a lot of opportunities. We are placed in a multilingual area, in the NE of Catalonia (Spain). Both Spanish and Catalan are the official languages. As well, the French border is close to us, so the French language is videly used in our area. Furthermore, our land is a touristic destination, so a lot of languages are spoken here.

We are a member of the Mobility Network created by the Regional Ministry Education that is composed by Mobility Coordinators of different High Schools, Principals and Ministry staff. There we share experiences and the best practices with other institutions similar to ours and the Regional Ministry Education gives us information about mobility and cooperation projects..

Our course catalogue offers the following two short cycles:

    • Administration and Finance (Administració i Finances)
    • Organizing and executing operations of management and administration in business, work, accounting, tax and financial statements processes of a public or private company, applying the current legislation and quality management protocols, managing information, ensuring customer and/or user satisfaction and acting according to the rules on labour risk prevention and environmental protection.

    • Web Applications Development (Desenvolupament d’Aplicacions Web)
    • Developing, implementing and maintaining web applications, irrespective of the model used and using specific technologies, guaranteeing secure access to data and complying with the accessibility, usability and quality criteria required by established standards.

Language policy

Foreign languages are compulsory subjects in one of our short cycles. Besides the English subject that is included in the Administration and Finance short cycle, our institution added a second foreign language subject (French), because the French language is very common in our area.

Moreover, some topics of the short cycle Web Applications Development) are taught in English.

Also, there is a language school (EOI Figueres) in our city where our students can practice foreign languages.

Finally, some weeks before mobility, students will attend an intensive English or French course, where they will learn the most basic topics for everyday life.

Mentoring and support arrangements for incoming mobile participants and outgoing students

Incoming mobile participants will be received by the Principal (or the Head of Studies if not available) and the Mobility Coordinator. A tutor and a peer mentor will be assigned to each participant, a student or a member of staff as appropriate. They will help the participant with any issues.

After that, all the facilities of our institution and our city are shown, especially those which will allow them to stay in touch with their home institution.

An accommodation place will be proposed to all participants.

We are looking for abroad institutions that can offer a similar procedure for our outgoing mobile participants.

Regarding outgoing traineeship participants, their progress will be monitored using the web application mentioned before.

Institution's language support for incoming students and staff

A peer mentor will be assigned to each incoming mobile participant. Peer mentors are selected by their knowledge of the language and their ability to communicate with others.

Our institution has a special facility called ‘Reception class’ (Aula d’acollida) where foreign students can practice local languages. Incoming participants could assist to this special class if needed.

Internal administrative steps and procedures established to recognise the mobility achievements.

Since In-company training is a compulsory subject of our short cycles, it is automatically recognized.

The application used for monitoring local or abroad traineeship ( generates the training agreement, the evaluation document, a company certificate and the Europass documentation.

The courses included in the short cycles that we offer have an ECTS number defined by the Spanish Ministry of Education. They are published in our web site: >> Estudis

Also an Europass supplement is published in the Spanish Ministry of Education web page:

For mobility study achievements we will follow the ECTS and ECVET criteria.
